Donny Benet Saint Louis Concert reviews
Shinedown in Nashville
"I am a writer and musician, so I also wish Brent Smith would have made a greater attempt to sing the melodies as he had written them. Though the sound was very good, I found it distracting as he jumped in and out of the melody lines. The only song they didn't do in their set that I would have expected was "I Dare You"- otherwise they did a really good job of representing all 3 albums. I wish they would have included "What a Shame" from Sound of Madness. Overall it was a good show. The reason I didn't is because of the elongated dialogue between songs, some of which I found both patronizing and condescending. I have been a big Donny Benet fan for a while now and had been really looking forward to this. None of the above is enough to keep me from giving this show an "Amazing" 5 stars. This is probably a bi-product of heavy touring. As for the show itself- I wish the drums had been set up more centrally so we could have seen them better. I am in my 40s, and though I am perhaps not in their typical demographic I can tell you I would have felt the same at 25."
